10 Whole30 Holiday Recipes

As Thanksgiving approaches, you’re probably already thinking about what to serve for dinner. Maybe you’re not hosting, but you’ve been asked to contribute a dish. Good food is a huge part of celebrating the holidays for me, but I also know that I feel so much better when I avoid certain foods. So this year I’m trying to find a balance of traditional and Whole30 holiday recipes for the holidays.

On Tuesday, I shared about my first two weeks doing the Whole30. You can read about it here. Today I thought I’d throw out a few of the simple but delicious meals that I’ve been eating these past 17 DAYS!!

Thank heavens that sweet potatoes are allowed during the Whole30! I’m just sayin’. A quick lettuce-wrapped burger makes life easy, especially because the rest of my family can eat the same meal with buns instead of lettuce and it’s not a ton of extra work. I topped my burger with avocado and pickled red onion and it was delish! read more

The Whole30 – My First 15 Days

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had some pretty annoying digestive problems. My issues started to really ramp up in college where I would sometimes be afraid to eat in certain circumstances because I was afraid of having a digestive meltdown. I learned certain coping mechanisms, but never made an effort to pinpoint the source of all these problems.

A couple friends had posted on Facebook about the Whole30 and I started looking into it out of curiosity. After reading The Whole30 by Melissa & Dallas Hartwig, it felt like the right way to determine if a particular food group was the root of all these issues I’ve been struggling with, and at the very least it could help me kick some bad habits. Baby Steps to a Healthier Kitchen, Part 1: The Pantry

A while back I wrote about my frustrations with processed food and how it seems to be sneaking into everything we eat. It feels like you can hardly find a thing in the grocery store that doesn’t have some form of sugar inside. Don’t even get me started on high fructose corn syrup and those ridiculous commercials that came out a couple years ago raving about how it’s is fine in moderation! What a crock.
